Moreno Veloso + Domenico + Pedro Miranda + Luis Filipe de Lima
Moreno was born with the gift of music, given him by his father Caetano Veloso. His musical forays began in early childhood, when he composed and shared the vocals with his father in “Um Canto de Afoxé para o Bloco do Ilê” on the album “Cores, Nomes” (1982). He has played the guitar since childhood and, in addition to singing, he is also a cellist.
After studying physics in college and performing with various artists, Moreno came up with the project +2, along with friends Alexandre Kassin (bass) and Dominic Lancelloti (drums). They recorded the first album of the trio, “Máquina de Escrever Música” in 2001. The album was released in Brazil on Dado Villa Lobos’ Rock It! label, and internationally on David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label.
Moreno is also a member of the Imperial Orchestra of Rio de Janeiro, along with his buddies from +2 and musicians like Rubinho Jacobina, Thalma de Freitas, Rodrigo Amarante and Pedro Sá, among others. In 2004, the second fruitage of the +2 project was born, the CD “Sincerely Hot”, and four years later, the trilogy was capped off with the album “Futurismo.” Currently, Moreno Veloso is working with his father, producing his godmother, Gal Costa’s, the new album, in addition to working on his solo projects.
