Jorge Ben Jor
Jorge Ben Jor is often called “the only brazilian unanimity” by pleasing and interacting with musicians in and out of the country.
João Gilberto fan, in the early 60s he was revealed with the hit “Mas Que Nada” (the only song in portuguese ever to reach the top of the US charts) and right after that he scored his second goal, “Chove Chuva”. Innovator in brazilian music, Jorge Ben recorded his first records with a jazz band, for his sound didn’t fit in bossa nova or traditional samba.
Throughout his career he moved through MPB, samba and black music, in addition to having his songs recorded by giants of the international scenery like Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzie Gilespie, Julio Iglesias, Al Jarreau, Trini Lopez, among others. The list of the national artists who colaborated and recorded his hits goes from Erasmo Carlos and Tim Maia to Marisa Monte and Ana Carolina.
Since 2000 dedicating himself to concerts in the United States, recently Jorge Ben has signed a contract with Warner and soon will release a new studio album.
