B2B 2011 will pay homage to the sound of the suburbs of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The Bailão Black will be dedicated to the rhythms of funk, “charme” (charm) and break. The party will be organized by producer Michel Jacob of Black de Elite and will feature DJ’s Corello, Fernandinho, Cia and Marlboro.

Marco Aurélio Ferreira, aka Corello, is a DJ and broadcaster. He was one of the mixing pioneers at “bailes” (Brazilian funk balls) and gave the name “charme” (charm) to romantic R&B music in the early 80’s in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Alongside Fernandinho, who will also play at B2B, he brought genre greats like Glen Jones, Omar Chandler, Curtis Hairston and Sybil to the country.

DJ Cia, Jeferson dos Santos Vieira’s stage name, started at the “bailes” early when he was still an adolescent, in São Paulo. He worked in radio, opened shows for Snoop Dogg, Ja Rule, Public Enemy and Afrika Bambaataa, and he was part of RZO (Rapaziada da Zona Oeste [guys from West Zone]), a rap and hip-pop group that spawned Negra Li, Sabotage and others.

Funk music will be represented by DJ Marlboro, one of the biggest names in the history of the rhythm and one of the main exponents in its popularization. He won the “Brazilian DJ Championship” in 1989, and after that, the world. In mid-2003, he played at the Summer Stage festival in New York’s Central Park and, while still in the States, he graced his sound in Chicago, Boston and New Jersey. He has worked in radio, newspaper and TV. He also runs his own label, Link Records.
